LA GRANDE OBRA DE ATOCHA
How was it born?
It was born from the dream of a Holy priest who had no other ambition than being FAITHFUL to God's will and had no other desire that ignite the hearts of young children and all those with him were they. A dream that God planted in the heart of DON BALTASAR.
On What is Built?
Don Baltasar cemented La Grande Obra de Atocha on four pillars: a. - LARGE KITCHEN, b. - Great school, c. - Large workshop and d. - GREAT CHURCH.
a. - GREAT KITCHEN. - Don Baltasar says: "First you have to fill empty stomachs if we fill their heads after their hearts with knowledge and love of God." This creates a large dining room where children can feed your body. b. - Great School. - must form the minds of children to acquire once ·-some human culture and they can talk about the existence of God the Father and his love of children, the poor and simple ... c. - Large Workshop. - Concerned about the situation of women in those years and in that neighborhood, think about giving them a post-school training to prepare you for a trade and be able to deal with life with dignity. It creates some sewing, dressmaking, embroidery and housework. d. - and Great Church. - There, beneath the maternal gaze of the Morenita and heat the Tabernacle, is turning the hearts of those children to feel loved by Jesus and learn to love the family atmosphere typical of "Children of the Gospel." CATECHESIS will be the foundation of his religious teaching and CHILD JESUS IN THE EUCHARIST will be the model to follow and love. He stood on the foundation of trust in God and the "Bank of Divine Providence." Don Baltasar had nothing. But his faith was boundless and launched into the construction of this great work because I knew that God was who he was inspiring that work-could not fail. He gets up, then, with faith, with the confidence and docility to divine inspiration. And here, also put their "two cents" the whole city of good will, who were eager to contribute, to the extent of its ability, to make joyful reality the dream of the "divine madman" named Don Balthazar. |
