Sermon of Ven. Baltasar
Sermon on Ascension.
The Pathway to Heaven by Jesus Christ (no date) Destroyed sin vanquished hell, redeemed man, Jesus Christ Our Lord makes the earth and up to possess the heavenly Kingdom that had conquered his Blood. He climbed from the top of Mount Olive, witnessed by his blessed mother and his dear friends, accompanying him countless souls, with armies of angels, showing all the Heavenly Court, receiving him with infinite joy his Eternal Father. Its absence produces sadness, but his pledge consoles us; to climb through the air repeat us in his thinking and in his heart dulcisimas words, little has, said to his Apostles: My sons: it is true that I will leave, but not for this reason ye fret; because now you can not come with me, coming in a not distant day: Non turbetur cor vestrum. Rejoice, because I hasten to prepare a place corresponding to each of you: Quia ford parare vobis locum. Yes, I'm going to prepare a place, and after that it will be ready, I will come again and will take you also to be where I am. Words of consolation. Words that should fill our souls with joy and hope! It is truly just and founded this consoling hope, but always with our cooperation. Jesus promises the Kingdom of heaven, but with the same conditions that the father was promised to him. Therefore they should not be the disciples in better condition than the master. Does Jesus went up into heaven by the way of the cross, the path of suffering: Nonne haec oportuit Christum patui ita et intrare suam inglloriam? This is also the way that we drew up to us; This path that we must follow; moves ahead of us opening us the way by his example. Whoever, therefore, accompany him in glory, accompany you in the suffering; who aspire to raise Jesus to heaven, follow him in the way of the cross: Qui vult venire post me, tollat crucem suam. So speaks Jesus Christ makes us the condition for heaven is we suffer like him, this condition is necessary, fair and soft: Here is what the grace of God we will consider briefly; ask this grace through the mediation of the Virgin . Ave Maria. All wish to accompany Jesus to heaven, we all aspire to a place in the Kingdom of the God man. Noble aspiration! Worthy of the Christian souls to be eternally happy! Jesus asks The sons of Zebedee: potestis bibere calicem bibiturus quem ego sum? Are you able to drink the cup that I have to drink myself says to us from the throne of his glory, who has fallen. Can you drink the cup, you can and have enough courage to drink the cup of my pains and sorrows through the torrent of that I've been through? ... Do you have enough strength to sacrifice pleasure to duty, the nature of virtue, from earth to Heaven, time to eternity? ... Count on? Strong enough to withstand the satires of debauchery, contempt of wickedness, evil persecutions of the world? ... Enough evidence to bear my cross and march undaunted always under the banner of my ignominy? Bibere Potestis calicem ...? Because heaven is reached by a path strewn with crosses and jobs. Jesus Christ promises eternal life but who? No happy according to the world, but those who drink of the river of afflictions that he has drunk first, suffer, suffer, weep: Beati qui lugent. He ensures infinite reward in the price as well as in the duration, but who?, Not those who spend their lives in pleasures and delights but those who, in imitation of him and his love, suffer contempt, persecutions, injustices : Beati qui persecutionen patiuntur propter justiciam. You see, says St. John, this brilliant army of illustrious warriors, dressed in white robes, and palms in their hands, around the throne of the Divine Lamb? Know that everyone has gone through great trials and are there because they suffered much pain and work: Venerut of tribulatione magna ... Ideo thronum Dei sunt before. Amen. |
